In Noibu, part of the triaging process is manually sorting issues based on impact–User Impacting, Benign, or Uncategorized–so your engineers know where to focus their efforts. This is an effective sorting method, as it places User Impacting issues at the top of the index for easy reference. However, it’s not a perfect process; as a user applies filters and sorts the Issues table, User Impacting issues can get lost in the shuffle.
Noibu users need a way to highlight impactful issues for easy reference, and to this end we’re introducing a brand-new tab on the Issues table: Pinned Issues.
This update begins with a change in nomenclature. As before, you can open the Issue Management tab to classify each issue by one of three categories, but we’ve renamed these categories to be more descriptive:
Old Name | New Name |
---|---|
User Impacting | Pinned |
Benign | Benign |
Uncategorized | Unset |
We’ve also renamed the field itself from Impact to Classification.
As you can likely guess, the Pinned Issues tab collects and displays any issue in the Pinned category. To keep things organized, the Pinned Issues tab will not include issues that are Closed-Fixed, Closed-Ignored and Benign.
By creating a special space for Pinned issues, we solve the problem of impactful issues getting lost in the pile. Periodically, your Noibu prioritization team will pin visibly impactful issues on your behalf, saving you the manual effort, but you're free to pin and unpin issues as necessary.
We hope this addition makes it even easier to manage, prioritize, and resolve issues.
